Thinking Errors

We are given a profound computing and thinking capacity, at the core of which exists speed, focus and accuracy.  By the same token these traits causes us to make errors in judgement and thinking. As we speed the rate of information processing, focus and accuracy starts to give in. While thinking is simply defined as asking questions, often time the heuristics and biases route of our cognitive map kicks in to give us the answers we are looking for. Because of need for speedy information processing, we do one of three things either separately or all at once. Deletion, Distortion & Generalization.  As the result of this patterning, habitual thinking errors occur. Further these thinking errors makes life difficult for us. I list 12 of them in this blog. 1.   Catastrophic Thinking: Jumping to worst possible conclusion in exclusion of all other fact and factors. 2.   Black or White Thinking:  This refers to all or nothing thinking and thinking in extremes. 3.   Fortune Telling:

Self-Esteem & Self Acceptance

In the last blog we spoke about self-image and how we think and behave in relation to our self-image.  We mentioned in order to deal with our self-image issues we must look away from physical realm deeper into the psychology of self, because it is the poor attitude toward self that manifests itself into problematic thinking and behaving. I often time hear people talk about self -esteem, I still have not seen any human being with steam coming out of their ears.  All joking aside I realize there are a great deal of us dealing with self-esteem issues. We may not notice it in our behavior but it is obvious from the way we walk, talk, and engage other human beings. Well, I am here to say there is no such phenomenon as self-esteem, rather self-esteem is an epee-phenomenon. The real issue is self-acceptance, for if we fully accept who we are we will never feel bad about ourselves and the cognitive illusion we call self-esteem will be out of our lives once and forever and not only that the

Body Image, Unhealthy Thinking & Behaving

Unhealthy Thinking 1.  Making rigid demands and rules about the way other people must or must not judge your appearance. 2.  Linking  your self-worth to you attractiveness. 3.  Placing too much importance on physical appearance and under rating other characteristics. 4.  Over estimating how much other people evaluate and even notice your looks 5. Holding unrealistic expectation and standards for your own physical appearance. Unhealthy Behavior 1. Comparing yourself to others on regular basis 2. Over preparing before going out in public 3. Being overly obsessive with with dieting and exercising only for the reason of improving looks not health. 4. Attempting to hide away from scrutiny even from lovers 5.
